TIAMAT
It’s three pair
of eyes were gleaming under the fullmoon’s light, it’s hoarse breath just added
chill to my spine which has already chilled with cold sweat.
“Uhh, Mr. Monster, I was just joking when I
said I wanted to interview you, so why did you just appear and attack me so
suddenly like that?”
Crap, I know I shouldn’t have taken a
sidetrip on my way back to the inn.
*GRAAAAGH*
With a loud roar it leaped toward me with a
claw forward. The next time I know it I was already running with all my might.
Without looking back I knew that the monster is chasing me from the loud
galloping sound.
Not long, I came to a sudden realization
that I’m already surrounded by cliffs. Right when I turned around, that thing
has already raised it’s claw to attack me. I quickly jumped to the side.
Barely
survived, this time I was cornered, there was nowhere else to run. The five
meters tall monster set it’s eyes to me
once again.
“Aaah,
bye-bye oh ugly and beautiful world…”
Somehow
I said that while smiling with tears raining down my cheeks. Yes, I’ve prepared
myself for this, but I didn’t think my life as a field journalist would have to end in my first real job.
But
just as the monster ‘s claw was about to reach me a figure appeared before me.
I’m
not sure what happened but the monster‘s
attack just stopped and soon enough it was sent flying and dropped down with a
loud *thud* sound on the ground about ten meters away from where it stood before.
Yet,
what surprised me more was that the figure standing in front of me is a slender
girl about 15 years old.
Her
glittering silver hair with a side ponytail on the left side reflects the
moonlight. Her slender, seemingly frail body was actually brimming with vigour.
Mesmerized
by the sight, I didn’t realize another figure standing beside me until the
figure suddenly spoke.
“Good,
you found it just in time, Tia.”
The
young man wears a pokerface, yet it feels very intimidating. His black short
spiky hair stood in contrast with a silver hilt of a sword on his back.
“Did
I do well big brother?”
The
girl, Tia, Dashed to the young man beside me and offered(?) her head.
The
young man patted her on the head and the girl smiled vigorously in reply.
“Tia,
looks like it’s up for more.”
Upon
seeing the monster stood back the young man grabbed the hilt of his sword, but
the girl stopped him.
“Please
leave this one to me, big brother.”
“Alright,
but remember to do it in moderation.”
“Of
course. Here I come !”
The
girl then dashed toward the monster with a shout.
---That was my first encounter with
the two called as the“Invisible blade” and the “Ironclad” both known as The
Strongest Siblings.---
Chapter
1: The Truth is Something You See with Your Own Eyes
It was almost noon, in a small town
near the border between the Queendom of Auture and the Raeciar Empire. A pair
of a boy –no, a young man would fit more- and a girl walk the rather crowded
street side by side. The young man looks like in his late teens or maybe
already passed twenty, while the girl only seems to be around fifteen. Not far
from these two another figure appears to be stalking them.
The
street they were walking is a paved one, the now unlit street lamps are
beautifully ornamented. And the stalls on the side are humbly but beautifully
decorated and nicely arranged. Even though it’s a small town in the
countryside, the Queendom of Auture famed for it’s aesthetic sense of it’s
people certainly lives up to it’s name.
The
two walked in silence, while the young man just expressionlessly looking at the
front, the girl, holding a basket full of food just continuously munching her
food without a moment of pause. When the girl suddenly stopped eating while
glancing a little to the side. As she started her meal again she broke the
silence.
“Big
brother, that person is still following us.”
Said
the girl while munching a big, no, a really large bread which size surpassed
the size of her head.
“Leave
her be, I don’t know who she is, but she
must be stupid to stalk someone without trying to hide herself like that.”
“If
you say so big brother.”

Hello
everyone, my name is Evelyn Tracer, I’m a journalist for the Queendom of Auture
number one newspaper “Timed”. I’m currently in an attempt of covering the two
known as the Strongest siblings out there, “The Invisible Blade” whom I’ve yet
to know his real name, and the “Ironclad” whose name apparently is “Tia”.
I’m
really lucky to meet those two while I was covering about a monster rampage in
the countryside, I almost lost my life for a small corner worth news there
though, but now I’m tailing a scoop, I mean the siblings who saved my life
there.
--Wait,
who am I talking to anyway? Ah, well, more importantly I should keep following
them so I can return to the Capital with a scoop.
“I
must say, they’re kinda far off my expectations. I thought the strongest siblings
would look like a pair of scary looking men. But they look pretty much ordinary
to me if I hadn’t seen them in action before. Well, at least now I know why
they’re called siblings instead of brothers though.”
The
“Invisible blade” was actually a so-so –if not handsome- looking man with a
completely ordinary figure, basically he looks like the sort of a man you can
find anywhere, the only outstanding feature was his jet black hair which is
pretty rare in the Queendom and that he is carrying a rather huge sword for his
figure on his back. Then, to the more surprise, the “ironclad” whom I thought
was a huge man wearing a fullbody armor was actually a girl with a side
ponytail wearing a simple girly outfit which suits her perfectly according to
my preference.
Okay
everyone, I’ll keep jotting down all the information I can gather, but for now
I’ll grab a QUICK MEAL from the stall WITHOUT LOSING SIGHT of those two. I
can’t help getting hungry since I skipped breakfast because they left the inn
really early this morning.
***
As
the the two were walking, the girl, Tia whom still munching her bread which now
less than half it’s original size halted.
“Phi,
phigh buhroher, hwai heel khit !”
“Whom
are you calling pig brother? Swallow before you speak.”
The
brother smacked Tia on her head lightly.
*gulp*”hauu,
you didn’t need to do that…”
“I
din’t put strength into that one. More importantly, is it what I think it is?”
“Yes, I’m pretty sure with this one.”
Both
of them are now speaking in serious tone. And the brother’s expression which
usually poker faced now seems to be more than simply pissed off.
“Last
one was a miss since it was an uncultivated
savage one, is there no need to reconfirm this one?”
“That’s because I was feeling under the
weather that time, and that’s because you told me to skip breakfast !”
Puffing
her cheeks, Tia answered while turning away her gaze to the side.
Somewhat
losing the tense in his expression the brother smiled.
“And
that’s because you overslept, right?”
“…..”
Saying
nothing, Tia just nodded with an embarrassed expression.
As if that was something that
happens often, the brother just shrugged and switched back to the main topic.
“Alright,
let’s look for it’s exact location first then we’ll make our move right away if
the condition is right. Lead the way, Tia.”
“Yes
brother.”
The
two dashed away from that place in a movement so fast ignoring but not
colliding with anyone in the crowd, leaving many surprised and dumbfounded. A
girl near a food stall seemed especially agitated and panicking as she’s
shouting things like “What the hell?” and “Damn it.” As she tried to chase
them, the stall owner grabbed her sleeve asking for payment with a rather angry
expression.
The
siblings soon exited urban area and now already near the outskirts of the town,
the number of houses gradually decreases and soon replaced by fields and plains.
The
overwhelming noon summer heat doesn’t seem to affect those two as they just
continued running until Tia suddenly
shouted.
“Brother,
we’re close enough!”
The
two halted and stared to the horizon where the plains overlapped by a seemingly
thick forest.
“Good,
we made it on time, that thing still got quite a distance from the town.”
“Should
we attack right now?”
“Wait,
Tia, how many are there?”
“Only
one.”
“Che,
even though we got it right we’re still far from the jackpot, eh? This one
might have been just a defective product they set free.”
“But
we can’t just leave it alone. Even only one of them is capable to destroy an
entire village.”
“You
should know there’s no way I’m gonna leave those things alone. You wait here.”
Hearing
that Tia clearly shows her surprised expression and grabbed her brother’s hand.
In
reply, He just stroked Tia’s head and mess her hair.
“It’s
okay, you worked hard last time, so it’s my turn now…”
“But!”
“Let’s
have some meat for dinner tonight.”
“It’s
not fair, you know my weaknesses too well, big brother.”
Tia
can only answer that while fixing her hair and turning her gaze to the side.
“Then,
I’m off.”
Grabbing
the hilt of his sword, he unseathed it. Judging from the length it is a great
sword, with an especially broad blade. While it’s silvery feature reflecting
sunlight might leave you in an awe, the surprising part is that he held it one
handed on his right side without any trouble for his figure.
Bending
his body forward, he dashed toward the
direction of the forest in a speed that when compared would make a horse seemed
like a tortoise.

Hello,
it’s your aspiring journalist Evelyn. I’m currently in a bad mood since I just
lost my scoop to be not too long ago so I’m currently Indulging myself with
some drinks. Heck, they’re just some fruit juices though.
“Why
did they just started running anyway? Did they know I was stalking them?”
I
grabbed my 6th glass and raised it close to my lips.
Originally
I planned to follow them to watch them in action. If the rumors were true I’d
be able to write a scoop soon enough. But now I completely lost my chance to
fame.
“If
only I interviewed them I might get by with a second rate article at the very
least.”
Just
when I started to gulp down my apple juice I saw two familiar figures entering
the diner. That caused me to blurt all the apple juice in my mouth on someone’s
back sitting across of me.

It’s
evening, the moon, now entering it’s waning phase shows itself from behind the
ever moving cloud. The ornamented street lamps shone brightly as if refusing to
lose to the moonlight. Only a few stalls selling drinks like ale and cheap
brandless wine currently running their business. On the street, less crowded
than it was in the day, Tia wearing a worried face was walking a few steps away
behind her brother. After fidgeting a few times she raised her pace to catch up
to her brother.
“Big
brother, your wounds are still bleeding. Please let me treat it already.”
Fending
off his overly worried sister’s hands the brother launched a counter attack by messing
up her hair brutally with both of his palms.
“I
told you they were just scratch I got from the trees in the forest. The blood
will stop soon anyway.”
Holding
her head with her hands, she pouted.
“I
like it when you patted my head and stroke it gently, but I hate it when you
mess my hair.”
“And
that’s precisely the reason I’m doing it.”
Almost
still expressionless the brother grinned.
In
response, puffing her cheeks Tia punched her brother on the chest, causing her
brother to step back 3 steps, coughing.
“*cough*
Hey, did you forget your own strength? You might have killed me with that if I
didn’t react on time.”
“I
don’t care anymore. However wounded you may be next time, I’m not going to do
anything about it. Humph.”
Still
puffing her cheeks, Tia turned around and walked away stiffly, leaving her
brother who was grinning, in pain.
This
time, It’s the brother’s turn to catch up with Tia.
